Bumptop and Desktop Interfaces for Touchscreens

I just tried this program today - because I heard about it today.
It's a new 3d desktop interface, which could have been awesome on touchscreen computers of today, including the netvertibles from Viliv or Asus or the tablets that are powerful enough to run Windows 7.
Well I just used the word "new" but apparently the thing has been around for 3 years now and actually Google Inc. has acquired the company. More info: http://www.bumptop.com/ It just so happens that I was a bit late to learn about this Bumptop stuff.

I was talking about how awesome Bumptop could have been, if it could be used on tablet PC's, but being the resource hog that it is, this software is far from being a viable desktop interface for ultra mobile touchscreen devices. For Windows users out there who want to try something new, try EZBlue's BlueDolphin. AFAIK you can find a link for it at the EEEuser forums.

I'm not really satisfied with Bumptop. The idea seems marvelous but the blurry and low quality textures of the desktop icons even at the highest quality texture settings, along with the lag in reaching the walls even in my high-end desktop computer makes things annoying. That, along with the motion sickness you get when switching from wall to wall, made me uninstall in 5 minutes what could have been a computer geek's wet dream of a desktop interface.

I think I'll still stick to Rainmeter for my Windows desktop.

not cool. not cool at all.
